lyrics

“Shout it aloud, do not hold back raise your voice like a trumpet.
Declare to my people, their rebellion, to the house of Jacob their sins.
For day after day, they seek me out; seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right; and not forsaken My commands.

They ask for just decisions, seem eager for God to come near to them.
‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, and you have not seen it?
Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’
“Yet day after day, you do just as you please;
exploiting all those who work for you.
Your hearts are full of quarreling their full of strife,
You’ve all gone your own way.

You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.
Is this the kind of religion, you think I have chosen,
only a day for you to humble yourself?
Oh its not for bowing your head like a reed,
its not for lying on sackcloth and ashes,
Is that the kind of religion, you think is acceptable to Me?

“Is this not the kind of fasting, I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice?
Untie the cords of the yoke, set the oppressed free and break every yoke.
Oh its to share your food, with the hungry,
provide the poor wanderer with shelter
When you see the naked to clothe them,
do not turn away from your flesh and blood.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, (Light of the World)
And your healing will quickly appear; (Jesus)
Then righteousness will go before you, (The Lord Himself)
The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. (Be your guard)

Then you will call, the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here I am.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
the pointing of the finger and your malicious talk,
If you spend yourself on behalf of the hungry;
satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
Then your light will rise, rise out of the darkness,
and your night will become like noonday.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, (Light of the World)
And your healing will quickly appear; (Jesus)
Then righteousness will go before you, (The Lord Himself)
The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. (Be your guard)

‘The LORD will guide you always;
and satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land.
He will strengthen your frame. You’ll be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring who never fails.
Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins;
you will raise up the age-old foundations;
You be called Repairer of Broken Walls, and streets to dwell in.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, (Light of the World)
And your healing will quickly appear; (Jesus)
Then righteousness will go before you, (The Lord Himself)
The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Yes He will.

Stop oppressing the poor, and give to the hungry, (Light of the World)
Give all you have for the sake of Christ: (Jesus)
Lean not on your own understanding,
and in all your ways acknowledge Him (The Lord Himself)
and then and then only will you be in the Light

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, (Light of the World)
And your healing will quickly appear; (Jesus)
Then righteousness will go before you, (Light of the World)
The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Yes He will. Yes He will.
(Jesus) (Light of the World) (Jesus)
